Michael Javalde was born in 1991 in the Philippines, and at the age of six he moved to Hawaii, where he currently resides. He has graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a BFA degree, with a focus in photography. Michael Javalde's work primarily uses both color, and black and white analogue photography, and alternative photographic techniques. Much of his work draw inspirations from the complex and enigmatic human psyche and the human condition. He is also trained in the marks-making techniques of traditional printmaking (intaglio, relief, lithography and screen printing), as well as digital printmaking.
